Our Mission

Thanksgiving in the Country house tour began in 1973 to benefit the Cleft Palate Unit of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This special unit is world renowned for facial reconstruction in children and young adults.  For cleft palate cases, lip repair begins when a baby is three months old and palate repair is done at six months, when the baby is ready for solid food.  More than a dozen operations may be necessary before the child is grown and the cost for such procedures can easily reach $100,000.  No child is denied treatment because of financial circumstances.  The hospital relies on private contributions and fund raising activities such as ours to make up the deficit.  Thanks to your support of our tours,  Thanksgiving in the Country has donated over $400,000 to this very worthy cause.

Thanksgiving in the Country is a non-profit organization of local volunteers joined to support Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Facial Reconstruction Unit.
